Get in a Better Mood
So, the last few days I have been feeling grouchy. And I mean really, really grouchy. Seriously, like someone needed to lock me up in a room and not let me be around people for a few days, it was that bad, yikes! It finally got to a point that I decided to find some quick ways to get in a better mood and start feeling human again. 😉 In the spirit Finding Fritzie, I wanted to share my feel-good tips with all of you. Here are 10 ways to turn that frown upside down in no time!

- Exercise – This one may not be a surprise, but exercise is one of the quickest and most effective ways to boost your mood. Cardio type exercises in particular are great for releasing those feel-good endorphins. And yoga is a great calming exercise, I’ve always found it to be very grounding.
- Smile – I know this sounds silly, but even when you’re feeling sad, the action of a smile will produce a happy feeling. Try it out! Hold a big grin on your face for 60 seconds and then see how you feel.
- Go Outdoors – Spending a few minutes out in the sunlight will raise your Vitamin D levels and improve your mood at the same time.
- Play Music – Listen to your favorite upbeat songs and get an instant happy boost. I know one song that always puts a huge smile on my face is “Dancing Queen.”
- Be Grateful – Make a list and write things down you’re grateful for (yes, it really works).
- Get your Zzz’s – Be sure and get a good night’s rest. This allows you to recharge and be ready for the challenges of the following day.
- Eat Mood-Boosting Foods – Papaya, Oranges, Fish high in Omega-3 (such as Salmon), Saffron, Coconut, Chocolate (in moderation), Green Leafy Vegetables and Green Tea, just to name a few.
- Stand Up Straight – Believe it or not, posture can affect your mood. I have always been terrible about having bad posture, in fact, I’m slumping in my chair right now. *straightens back* Ok, feeling much better now! lol
- Scents – The simple act of smelling something can brighten your mood. Citrus scents have long been known to elevate moods. I guess that’s why there are so many citrus scented room fresheners out there. I am a huge fan of lavender oil myself. In fact, I have a bottle at my desk, I find it helps with headaches, which I get fairly often from too many hours at the computer.
- Get a Foot Rub – This is supplies a two-fold blast of happy. One, the action of any touch, whether it be a hug or a foot rub can help lift your spirits. De-stress those tired ‘ol feet!
Feel better now? I know I do 🙂
