Price Cutter Catalinas Ending

Unfortunately, it looks like Price Cutter Catalinas will be coming to an end. A reader let me know after she noticed her store in Neosho was removing all the catalina machines. She contacted Price Cutter asking about it and received the following reply:

“I was made aware of your email regarding Catalina printers/coupons in our stores. I am sorry you were unable to take advantage of some Catalina offers. Our warehouse Associated Wholesale Grocers did not renew the contract with Catalina and we are in the process of removing their hardware from our stores. It seems the Neosho location was one of the first for this to take place, but it is my understanding they will be removed from all of our locations within the month. Again, I am sorry this decision adversely affected you but unfortunately this was a decision not made by our company.”

I also contacted Price Cutter and received basically the same response. In addition, I contacted AWG to confirm and they responded right away as well, confirming the above information. They stated the following:

“We were very sorry to have to terminate the agreement with Catalina – we’ve had a very long partnership with them and they continue to have some great offerings. However, the substantially increased cost to continue the program with Catalina would have severely impacted our small, independent retailers, and one of our main missions here at AWG is to keep the costs down for the retailers so they can keep their prices down for the customers in turn. The majority of our retailers are small, independently owned “Mom and Pop” type stores with razor thin operating budgets and they overwhelmingly indicated to us that the increased costs of continuing the program would be unsustainable.”

Personally, while I am disappointed to hear this news, I will definitely continue to shop at Price Cutter. They continue to run great deals each week, especially when paired with coupons. And they are also one of the very few stores in our area that still doubles coupons. I just love their regular markdowns in the Meat Department at my local store. And rom what I have heard from a few readers, some Price Cutter locations offer markdowns in their Produce Department as well. Anyway, my two cents. 😉 Feel free to share your own thoughts.
