And they've also got a great section with recipes on their Facebook page too, be sure and check that out. Did you know you when baking can replace butter or margarine with pureed avocados? Your baked treats will not only be healthier, but they'll taster richer as well. I tried out the following recipe that was available on their Facebook page and I thought it turned out really well, very yummy! I gave an old standard classic an interesting twist. Give it a try!
Guacamole Grilled Cheese
Ingredients:
1 Medium to Large Avocado
1/4 cup chopped tomato
Juice from 1/2 a Lime
Salt to taste (about 1/4 tsp.)
Dash of Pepper
4 drops of tabasco
6 slices of sourdough bread
Block of Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Butter
Preparation: For the guacamole – Mash together the avocado and chopped tomato. Add the lime, tabasco, salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
For the sandwich – butter on side of each of the bread slices. Flip over 3 slices of bread and spread the unbuttered side generously with the guacamole spread. Cut slices of cheese and place on top of the guacamole. Top with the remaning bread slices. Grill in a heated pan until golden brown.
I also gave the baking a try. I used a super easy brownie recipe. Now, this is a chewy brownie recipe, so if you prefer the brownies with a more cake-like texture, then this recipe is not for you! Anyway, I used avocado in place of the butter and it turned out really great. I liked the creamy texture and couldn't detect the avocado flavor at all. Give it a try!
Easy Brownie Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup of sugar
3/4 cup All-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1/2 cup pureed avocado (in place of butter)
Preparation: Grease 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan. Combine all dry ingredients first, then the wet ingredients, mixing together. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. That's it!
